Miller Co. Schools response to bomb threat
COLQUITT, Ga. – “At 5:50 AM this morning, September 11, 2024, the Miller County School System was informed of a threat to our campus on Facebook Messenger. An unknown account sent a message to one of our school system Facebook accounts detailing a bomb threat to our campus. The Miller County Sheriff’s Office was immediately notified of the situation and began investigating. The decision to cancel school today was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff.”
“In cooperation with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, Miller County Fire Department, Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office, Albany Police Department, GBI, and GEMA our campus was completely searched using dogs and bomb technicians. There was no threat found on our campus and our building is completely safe. The GBI, along with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, is currently investigating and tracing the threat. When a suspect is identified, we fully expect an arrest and charges in this case.”
“We would like to thank our community for their patience and understanding today. We are very serious about the safety of our students and staff. Our goal is to make Miller County Schools a safe learning environment for ALL. We want our community to be assured that we will take all precautions to meet that goal. We will continue to improve an already very safe campus and environment. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow, Thursday September 12, 2024.”
