June finished one of the top 20 warmest on record with 3 triple digit days last week. A steamy, sultry, muggy first day of July. Dew Points in the upper 70s to near 80. It’s a pure tropical “air you can wear” airmass. Heat index “feels-like” climbed to 108-113. A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of SWGA until 8pm. A Flood Watch remains in effect for the southern communities for possibility of flash flooding from rainfall rates of 2″-4″ per hour. Rain chances decrease slightly becoming more widely scattered to isolated in nature for Independence Day. Heat indices still near dangerous levels 105 to 108. Hot and humid with better rain chances for weekend. Beryl remains an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane, the earliest farthest east hurricane formation on record & only Category 4 for month of June. The average date for the first hurricane is August 11. Beryl is barreling towards Caribbean Sea forecast to be stirred on a westward motion underneath a blocking high pressure ridge.
