22-year-old injured in Americus shooting

AMERICUS, Ga. – At around 12:38 am on Saturday, June 16th, Americus Police officers responded to a report of a person shot near Bush Circle and East Furlow Street. Officers and a Sumter County Sheriff’s deputy provided initial aid until medical personnel arrived once at the scene.

The victim, 22-year-old Ja’Kavian Antwon Brown, was taken to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for stabilization and later transferred to a trauma center for additional treatment.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Americus Police Department.
