Agencies respond to shots fired in Cordele

CORDELE, Ga. – One person is in custody and police are searching for other suspects after shots were fired in Cordele over the weekend.

At around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, Crisp County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Cordele Police Department with dispersing a large crowd on 7th Street South.

While on the scene, deputies heard several shots fired. A deputy witnessed 36-year-old Rakim Jackson from Cordele firing a pistol into the air. Jackson was arrested for reckless conduct and taken to the Crisp County Detention Center.

During the arrest, there were additional reports of shots fired, but no further arrests were made. Bullet holes and shell casings were found at two nearby residences. The investigation is ongoing.
