Albany Area Arts Council’s 24th Annual Southwest Georgia Regional Fine Art Exhibition & Sale
ALBANY, Ga. – Albany creates a space for artistic expression, showcasing a stunning array of local talent.
The Albany Area Arts Council is proud to present the 24th Annual Southwest Georgia Regional Fine Art Exhibition and Sale. This premier event stands as the largest in the region.
“This exhibition is our 24th Annual Southwest Georgia Regional Fine Art Exhibition and Sale. And, it’s an opportunity for any artist that wants to put work into our show to do so. There’s an entry fee for doing it and we have the work juried. There are three competition categories. Painting and mixed media photography and digital art and sculpture and ceramics. And, so, there’s work that really is representative of all of those mediums and there are 52 artists in this year’s exhibition and we have 103 works of art,” said Nicole Willis, Executive Director, Albany Area Arts Council.
The exhibition featured an opening reception with an award presentation.
Artwork entered into the competition was juried for cash prizes.
Awards were given for first, second, and third place winners, as well as an honorable mention in each of the three categories, and one award for best in show.
Nicole Willis, Executive Director of the Albany Area Arts Council, emphasized the importance of showcasing art in the community.
“I think that exhibitions like this are really important because they’re very inclusive. Like it’s an opportunity for anyone who wants to show work, regardless of whether they have an entire body of work or just are kind of starting out and have a few pieces that they want to enter. And, we definitely have artists that are all across that range. We have artists in the show that are professional artists. We have artists in the show that are first timers, that took up artwork, painting at like a paint and sip class, you know. So, it really is such an inclusive group. And, I think that it’s important to give people a space so that they’re encouraged to continue to be artists, because that’s so important to our community. Like artists are kind of the heart and soul of what makes a community really beautiful. And, we want to do everything that we can to foster that,” said Willis.
So, how can individuals view the exceptional artwork featured in the exhibition?
Willis encourages the community to come and experience the exceptional artwork showcased in the exhibition firsthand.
“Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from noon to four. But, we also do appointment viewing. So, if anyone can’t come during that time frame and you call me to set up an appointment, we’ll find times that work outside of that time,” said Willis.
