Southwell OB/GYN expansion
TIFTON, Ga. – Southwell has revealed plans for expansion in Tifton, with a focus on improving women’s healthcare access and services in the area.
The facility has announced its intention to expand its OB/GYN providers in Tifton, with plans to introduce new providers at Affinity Physicians for Women. Additionally, it aims to bolster its Inpatient Obstetrical Program at Tifton Regional Medical Center.
“On June 3rd, Southwell will be assuming the Howard Center for Women’s Health Obstetric Services. So we will be expanding our existing O.B. Clinic with Dr. Price and her team to accommodate for the patients that will be coming over from the Howard Center. We were made aware that the Howard Center would not be providing obstetrical services beginning June the first and so as a way to meet the needs of our community, we’ve expanded our services. We will actually be bringing over several of the providers from the Howard Center to join our group. We have a physician, Dr. Yates Coleman, and then two nurse practitioners will be coming as well to continue to provide that service for our patients and to ensure a smooth continuum of care for them,” said Claire Byrnes, Southwell Ambulatory Services, Senior Vice President.
Southwell is currently undertaking an expansion and renovation project at the Affinity Physicians for Women clinic building on Kennedy Road in Tifton to accommodate the influx of providers and support staff. These enhancements will pave the way for the rebranding of affinity physicians for women as “Southwell Physicians for Women” in the near future.
Claire Byrnes, Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Services for Southwell, provides insight into the details of this expansion.
“So, as always, Affinity Physicians for Women will continue to care for our OB/GYN patients. Dr. Price and her team see a range of patients that provide obstetrical care along with GYN services will be expanding that with three additional providers to accommodate for the additional growth that we’ll see with the Howard Center having closed their obstetrical service and continue to provide that service there for them as well,” said Byrnes.
The Howard Center and Affinity Physicians for Women will form a collaborative effort to facilitate the transition of outpatient clinic appointments and the transfer of medical records.
“Southwell is committed to ensuring that our patients and our community are able to receive the care that they need and will continue to do that,” said Byrnes.
