Wendy’s employee arrested, charged after firing gun in parking lot; Warrant issued for aggravated assault suspect
LEESBURG, Ga. – A disturbing incident occurred at a Wendy’s on Ledo Road, where a suspect allegedly assaulted an employee, prompting the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to launch a search for the perpetrator.
The suspect, Kamal Khalil Philips, reportedly entered the restaurant around 11:52 am and began choking his girlfriend, Nicole Broner, who works at Wendy’s.
After the altercation, Broner discharged her firearm into the air, causing alarm among nearby residents who promptly notified the authorities.
Following an investigation, Broner was arrested for reckless conduct. However, Kamal Khalil Philips remains at large, with law enforcement issuing a warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault.
Residents are urged to report any information regarding Philips’ whereabouts to the authorities as the investigation continues.
