North Carolina man arrested on drug charges after stolen vehicle pursuit
CORDELE, Ga. – On May 4th, around Noon, a Crisp County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a stolen grey Toyota Rav4 at the intersection of Georgia 30 West and Old Albany Road.
The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Ronavon Kelley from Charlotte, North Carolina, refused to stop, leading to a chase through Cordele and onto the interstate. The pursuit continued into Dooly county, where the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed near the rest area at the 108-mile marker of Georgia 401 I-75.
Kelley was apprehended and taken to the Crisp County Detention Center. A search of the stolen vehicle uncovered suspected marijuana, psilocybin, a checkbook, and a P-EBT Card.
Kelley faces multiple charges, including theft, fleeing, drug possession with intent to distribute, and financial identity fraud.
