Dooly Co. Sheriff’s Office Facebook page hacked

DOOLY Co., Ga. – The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents and followers that they have suffered a cybersecurity breach after its official Facebook page was hacked, posting videos of inappropriate content and graphic material.

Chief Investigator Major Randy Lamberth of the sheriff’s office says the hack began on Monday, April 22 and the unauthorized activity has been traced outside of the United States.

Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy says they express their disapproval of content being posted on this page and has sent a request to Facebook to take down the old page.

Since then, the sheriff’s office says they have a new Dooly County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page providing updates and communication with the county.

Sheriff Peavy says he hopes the matter is resolved soon.
