Albany Technical College & GA Dept. of Administrative Services partner together to hold career fair

ALBANY, Ga. – Albany Technical College (ATC) offers the community an opportunity to connect with a diverse range of employers.

With a focus on bridging the gap between education and employment, this career fair aims to provide valuable networking and job-seeking resources to residents navigating their career path.

Students, graduates, active-duty military personnel, veterans, and members of the public were all cordially invited to engage with representatives from various Georgia state agencies for potential employment opportunities.

“So, today we are representing various career fields and several different state agencies. Primarily, our focus is going to be on our workforce strategies, initiatives and our work group. So, we have represented today, our law enforcement category. We also have our human services/social services category. We have finance and accounting. We also have information technology and cyber, as well as law enforcement,” said Kristy McClendon, Georgia DOAS Recruitment & Retention Manager.

Albany Technical College (ATC) collaborates with the department of administrative services to offer a robust platform for residents seeking career opportunities in the public sector, facilitating meaningful conversations and connections between the community and agencies that serve the state.

Kristy McClendon, Manager of Recruitment & Retention at the Georgia Department of Administrative Services, sheds light on the department’s role in orchestrating the career fair.

“So, today, this event is special to us because we’re reaching out and we are connecting with not only just our community here in Albany, Georgia, but also our technical college, Albany State University, as well as the Marine Corps Logistics Base. So, our goal is to help employ Georgians and make the state of Georgia their employer of choice. So, coming out and creating these events, especially state agency only events. It gives us an opportunity to highlight and showcase state agencies in the state of Georgia and to show the community and our college students and high school students and military personnel that the state of Georgia can be their employer of choice and why we should be their employer of choice,” said McClendon.

McClendon extends a warm invitation to individuals seeking career opportunities within the state of Georgia.

“I feel this is important simply because it gives us an opportunity to brand and gives an opportunity to allow all those other individuals you mentioned to have a knowledge of who we are as state agencies. The state of Georgia is an excellent place to work. We offer various career opportunities and we love the partnership with our communities and our local colleges and our military. We welcome them to come and work for the state of Georgia,” said McClendon.
