Crisp Co. Sheriff’s Deputy not injured in hydroplaning accident

CORDELE, Ga. – Severe weather swept through our region Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, leaving behind a trail of debris from heavy rain and strong winds.

The storm worsened road conditions, posing hazards for all motorists.

We have learned that while attending to a domestic call for service, a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy hydroplaned and collided with a tree around 7:45 p.m. last night.

Following the incident, the deputy was transported to Crisp Regional Hospital, where they were evaluated and then cleared for release.

Sheriff Hancock stated, “I am grateful the Deputy was uninjured, wind and heavy rainfall add to the dangerous dynamics associated with responding to calls of service.”

It’s essential to prioritize safety and adjust driving habits when facing adverse weather conditions. We’re relieved to hear that no serious injuries were reported as a result of this accident.
