Suspects arrested in Corner College convenience store shooting

ALBANY, Ga. – On April 9, 2024, at approximately 2:35 P.M., officers responded to 230 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. (Corner College) in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, two males were located with multiple gunshot wounds. Brian McCray, 22, and Quency Carr, 20 were both transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in stable condition. Raymond Jerrod Sutton Jr., 32, was taken into custody on scene.

Raymond Sutton Jr. was charged with Tampering with Evidence and transported to the Dougherty County Jail.

A 16-year-old has been charged with Aggravated Assault and will be taken to a youth detention center once released from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, authorities apprehended 18-year-old Jacobie Kendaris Mency, a person of interest wanted in connection to a shooting that occurred on Tuesday at Corner College near Albany State University’s East Campus.

Two males sustained multiple gunshot wounds during this incident. The victims are currently recovering from their injuries.

Mency was transported to the Dougherty County Jail on charges of Armed Robbery, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
