GBI requested to assist in death investigation by Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office
SALE CITY, Ga. – We begin this afternoon in Mitchell county – around 6:15 pm on Friday, March 29th, the GBI received a request to aid in the investigation of the death of 60-year-old Peggy Mash McCarthy, residing at a Broad Street address in Sale City.
A GBI agent and Crime Scene Specialist promptly responded to support investigators in examining the scene for any potential evidence. Initially, no immediate cause of death or injuries was evident. However, an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the GBI Crime Lab to gather additional information.
As part of the ongoing investigation, agents have conducted interviews with family members and a male individual with whom McCarthy resided.
