Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce welcomes new addition Cordelia Masonic Lodge

CORDELE, Ga. – Now, we are thrilled to announce that the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce celebrated a new addition on Tuesday evening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Established in 1890, the Cordelia Masonic Lodge has been an integral part of the Cordele community for the past 134 years. Operating from its current location for 35 years, the lodge holds a rich history within the city.

Freemasonry has deep roots in Georgia, dating back to 1734, with the grand lodge of Georgia serving as its governing body since 1786. Notably, James Edward Oglethorpe, the founder of the colony of Georgia, was himself a mason.

Among their notable charitable endeavors is the Masonic Home of Georgia in Macon, which has been providing care for over 2,100 children since its establishment in June of 1905. The masonic home offers residential care for children from broken homes or families unable to provide adequate care, aiming to eventually reintegrate them with their families.

Located at 215 East 12th Avenue in Cordele, the masonic lodge warmly welcomes anyone interested in becoming a mason or learning more about masonry. You can engage with masons directly or attend meetings held every first and third Tuesday.
