Helping Mamas non-profit baby supply bank expands to Good Life City

ALBANY, Ga. – A new beacon of hope has emerged with a steadfast commitment to empowerment and elevating the well-being of women across the Good Life City.

Helping Mamas, a baby supply bank originally out of Norcross, Georgia, has expanded its reach to the Good Life City. This non-profit organization aims to alleviate the financial burden for women by providing essential baby supplies.

“Our mission for Happy Mamas is to elevate women by providing items such as diapers, period products and other essential baby items. We also harness the power of community support so that all of our families can thrive. So, we do that by partnership and also by doing multiple distributions. So we can serve the community the best way we can with changing lives one diaper at a time,” said Patrice Williams, Helping Mamas Director of Engagement.

Patrice Williams, Director of Engagement at Helping Mamas, sheds light on the decision to establish a presence in Albany.

“Senator Ossoff, he gave us congressional funding to open this office, and they were looking for an area in Georgia where it would be the most needed. I guess with the powers that be, they decide as far as looking at the data figuring out as far as where the need would be more effective and greater. They decided to come to Albany,” said Williams.

Williams elaborates on Helping Mamas’ proactive approach in addressing the critical issue of families’ access to essential resources and the organization’s active role in bridging this gap through hands-on involvement.

“How you elevate people is first by identifying their basic needs. So, the way you can thrive is if your basic needs are taken care of. So, even if something as simple as diapers, which are very costly, they’re very expensive, we have one in two families that aren’t able to provide diapers. There is over 25% that aren’t able to go to work because they don’t have the period products. So, it is a socioeconomic issue and we are able to address it. So, I think that’s very important,” said Williams.

Helping Mamas emphasizes the paramount importance of donations, volunteerism, and unwavering community support in fulfilling its mission to uplift mothers and families.

“We just would encourage everybody, wrap the arms around Helping Mamas, because whenever you partner with us or you donate with us, you’re not just helping Helping Mamas, but you’re helping several agencies. We definitely want to point everybody to our Facebook or Instagram. So, if you click on the page or follow us Helping Mamas Albany, then you can get information on how to volunteer. So, that is done electronically. Also, as far as our needs, as far as pull ups, that is something that, with our community, that was a lot of ask. If you go on the page, that’s where you find all that information on how to donate with us, said Williams.
