Officials confirm second body found in two days identified as 23-year-old Cameron Jones

ALBANY, Ga. – At a 5 p.m. Monday afternoon press conference, Albany City Manager Stephen Carter confirmed that the body recovered near the boat dock at Radium Springs Road of 23-year-old Cameron Jones when a battalion chief spotted something in a pile of debris that was later discovered to be Jones’ body.

Full press conference:

This comes after the body of 36-year-old Darrious Stephens was recovered on Sunday at Punk’s Landing in Baker county.

Jones’ body was discovered earlier today on a smaller pile of debris, according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.

Coroner Fowler says an autopsy will not be necessary since witnesses saw Jones enter the water.

Jones disappeared on Monday, Feb. 26, when witnesses say he reportedly “jumped into” the river.

Albany Fire Chief Cedric Scott says they have been aggressive in searching the Flint to find both men.

With both men’s bodies recovered, there’s a sense of mixed emotion as the families of both men get closure.

Albany Police Chief Michael Persley says there will be an after action review for first responders with the search efforts concluding.
