Albany Museum of Art offering children’s acting classes
ALBANY, Ga. – With a focus on fostering creativity and nurturing young talent, the Albany Museum of Art offer children’s acting classes.
Introducing multi-week acting classes tailored specifically for children in grades 2nd through 5th, the museum offers a comprehensive program that promises a holistic approach to artistic development.
Incorporating singing, movement, and acting techniques, these classes culminate in a captivating musical performance scheduled for early spring.
Annie Vanoteghem, Director of Education and Public Programming at the museum, shares insight into the details on these exciting acting classes.
“So, this time last year we decided that we wanted to expand our all encompassing art programs; movement, and acting, and expression, things like that. We had a really great run through last year, and this year Miss Knuckles is back to teach a two month acting class for our K-5th graders, which will culminate in a show, a musical, on March 9th at 10 a.m. here at the museum,” said Annie Vanoteghem, Director of Education and Public Programming, Albany Museum of Art.
With extensive experience as a children’s theatre director, Vicki Knuckles assumes the role of the lead instructor, poised to cultivate the creative potential of young participants and guide them towards becoming confident performers.
“At Sherwood Christian Academy in the fifth grade, I met Miss Knuckles and was in her carious acting classes. So, I had a personal experience with miss knuckles. So, when she became available last year, we started talking about what we can do here. So, we had our last year’s class, and then she actually taught us summer camp over the summer in the same style, storytelling through art, and so this is our third project together and it’s been incredible,” she said.
And, for those eager to explore the world of performance, the children’s acting classes will return.
“If they’re interested, if they like what they see, we will be doing this again. I am sure for this season it is too late to sign up just because they are almost to their performance time. I would encourage those kids to come to the performance. It’s free and it might give them a little bit of a taste, a preview of what they can expect for next year,” she said.
