Arrests made for entering auto incident

ALBANY, Ga. – On January 15, 2024, officers responded to the 1000 block of Davidson Dr in reference to a suspicious person, around 5:35 A.M. The resident at the location told officers that he saw two black males walking in the rear of his home from camera surveillance. Officers were able to identify two suspects in the 2100 block of W Gordon Ave, that matched the description and were able to apprehend them after a short foot chase. The suspects were identified as Zane Byrd (18) and a 16-year-old male.

During their apprehension, it was discovered both suspects had firearms in their possession. Byrd had a black CMP Gen 2 handgun, a black Taurus G3 9mm, and a Georgia Driver’s License belonging to another resident within the area. Officers were able to contact a resident in the 2100 block of W. Gordon Ave, and she told officers that her wallet was missing from her vehicle. One of the suspects was carrying a black backpack that contained a handgun (Beretta 9mm).

Byrd was transported to the Dougherty County Jail, and the 16-year-old male was transported to Thomasville RYDC.
