CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: January 11, 2024

Clouds hang tough overnight with only a few breaks on Friday. Wind Advisory in effect from 10 am Friday until 1 am Saturday. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected. Isolated to widely scattered showers and t’storms will develop by early afternoon lasting into early evening. The severe weather threat level is now a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for the entire area. Timing cannot be narrowed down for one specific location because of the scattered nature of the storms, but the window that everyone should pay attention will be from 11 am-8pm. Because of uncertainties the threat level has been downgraded one level. The severe weather threat is lower compared to Tuesday. This is a conditional risk, meaning there’s still some uncertainty if the ingredients will line up just right, and if the storms are able to take advantage of them. Sunny but colder weekend. Scattered rain showers for M.L.K Jr. Day. An Arctic front is still expected to plow through the southeast with hammer dropping on the temperatures. Wind chills will dip into the teens. The season’s first hard freeze (<23°) is expected on Wednesday and even Thursday. This could be a prolonged Arctic blast extending into next weekend. Make those preparations now by winterizing your home, wrapping your pipes, and making sure your source of heat is functioning properly.
