ALBANY, Ga. – Get ready to savor the flavor as Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant spice up the Albany dining experience.
America’s Best Restaurants, a prominent national media and marketing company spotlighting local independently owned culinary gems, will be bringing its roadshow to Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant on January 15.
The event will showcase the restaurants popular dishes, with an exclusive episode capturing the essence of Mi Casa set to broadcast across various social media channels at a later date.
“Excitement…and, I think that was, of course, the biggest reaction. But, as far as the process goes, we had a number of people actually notice on social media. America’s Best Restaurants was reaching out to see, in different communities, what are some of the restaurants you would nominate basically as one of America’s Best Restaurants? Like where is a place that we need to go and experience this environment, ambiance, and the food and we got a number of nominations. And, so, we were able to get a call back from them and got an interview. And, they said that they kind of went through a lot of our socials, and just looking into our restaurant as a whole. So, after that interview, we were able to kind of get started on all of this, and we were just really excited that people would nominate us and think of us as a place that the whole country needs to know about,” said Jennifer Zamudio, Owner, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant.
Owners of Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant, Felipe and Jennifer Zamudio, candidly discuss the challenges they have encountered as restaurant owners and how they actively engage with the local community.
“I mean, we opened right before Coronavirus, so it was kind of hard to learn how to run the business, but also how to work during this big pandemic. So, yeah, it was such a big challenge for us,” said Felipe Zamudio, Owner, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant.
“Owning a business and owning a restaurant as a first time restaurant owner. And, then also like, wham, now we have all of these restrictions and we were thankful to make it out. The community really stepped up and supported us through that and made sure we were able to keep our doors open,” said Jennifer Zamudio, Owner, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant.
“Whenever we see, especially on social media, people say, “oh, I’m sick” or “I have an accident.” So, we’ve tried to reach these people and say, hey, do you need any food, do you need anything? I mean, sometimes, you know, you don’t need money, but you need food because you don’t have the time to cook. So, we try to give food to people who get sick,” said Felipe Zamudio, Owner, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant.
“One of the ways that I feel like we like to engage with the community is just especially giving back to a lot of the schools or organizations that we do things called percentage days where, you know, certain organizations or baseball teams or cheerleading squads or schools will reach out to us and say they have a need, and so we’ll do a percentage. They were 10% of the proceeds of that day will go towards whatever it is that they’re raising money for,” said Jennifer Zamudio, Owner, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant.
