2 juveniles arrested and charged for auto theft, driving recklessly in Cordele

CORDELE, Ga. – Around 2 a.m. On December 16th, a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a black car speeding down West 17th Avenue. Despite signaling the driver to stop, they ignored the deputy’s instructions and continued driving recklessly.

Near the 500 block of South 6th Street, both the driver and another occupant suddenly fled the moving vehicle, causing it to collide with a parked car. Deputies swiftly pursued and apprehended both juveniles after a brief chase. They were taken into custody and later transported to a youth detention center.

Upon investigation, it was found that the vehicle had been stolen from Rainey’s Used Cars, though the theft had not been reported at that time.

A 14-year-old juvenile from Cordele faces several charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude, theft by taking, entering auto, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, obstruction, failure to obey stop sign, and aggressive driving. Similarly, a 15-year-old juvenile from Cordele faces charges related to theft by taking, entering auto, and obstruction.
