Downtown Cordele partnering to host upcoming American Red Cross Blood Drive
CORDELE, Ga. – Downtown Cordele is stepping up to support the Red Cross Blood Drive, showcasing a shared commitment to saving lives.
Downtown Cordele proudly announced its sponsorship of the upcoming American Red Cross Blood Drive scheduled for Tuesday, December 12th, from 1 pm to 6 pm.
“Our biggest reason was to honor Jack Windham, who was a long time volunteer for Cordele. He volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce. He volunteered for SAM Shortline. Jack participated in many ways with the Red Cross. This is our way of honoring him and his legacy with the Red Cross. We’re all about community. We’ve all got to give back. We all need to participate within our community and look after our citizens,” said Monica Rentfrow, Cordele Main Street Program Director.
The event will be hosted at the Cordele Community Clubhouse, emphasizing the community’s commitment to support critical healthcare initiatives.
Citizens are offered multiple opportunities to contribute as the Cordele Community Clubhouse hosts the American Red Cross Blood Drive on the second Tuesday of each month.
Monica Rentfrow, Director of the Cordele Main Street Program, elaborates on the significance of blood donation, emphasizing its heightened importance during the holiday season.
“American Red Cross tells us that during the holiday seasons, donations drop. And, that to me is when it’s needed the most. People are traveling more people on the road, more accidents you have. Cancer patients are in a big need of blood. That’s why it’s very important that it’s always on the shelf for them, readily available. So, it’s important to overcome the need for it in the lack of it by donating,” said Rentfrow.
