Americus PD, GBI investigates homicide in Americus, 1 dead

AMERICUS, Ga. – At approximately 10:56 pm Thursday, officers from the Americus Police Department promptly responded to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of Crawley Street.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found a male individual lying on the ground behind 411 Crawley Street. Officers immediately provided first aid until EMS personnel arrived and subsequently transported the victim, identified as 44-year-old Kewan Laquent Morgan, to Phoebe Sumter Regional Medical Center. Morgan was later pronounced dead.

The Americus Police Department and the GBI are conducting a joint investigation into this incident. Anyone with any information relevant to this ongoing investigation is urged to contact the Americus Police Department at 229-924-3677.
