Escaped Bibb Co. federal inmate 37-year-old Johnifer Barnwell captured in Augusta; Joey Fournier remains at large

BIBB Co., Ga. – In a recent development, the FBI, in collaboration with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, successfully apprehended another one of the Bibb county escaped inmates.

37-year-old Johnifer Dernard Barnwell was discovered at a residence in the 3000 block of Alpine Drive in Augusta just after 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Upon Barnwell’s capture, law enforcement uncovered substantial quantities of drugs within the residence.

Barnwell, including three other inmates, managed to flee from the jail through a damaged day room window and a cut fence last month in October.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the potential whereabouts of the remaining escapee, Joey Fournier, to step forward and assist in his capture.
