CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: November 9, 2023
Drought worsens across SE U.S. Exceptional drought, the worst category for much of Mississippi and NW GA. Moderate to Severe and Extreme drought conditions for much of SWGA. Burn bans are in effect for entire state of Alabama and east of the Appalachians in North Carolina. 27 days without rainfall in Albany, GA. Last measurable rainfall Oct. 12th & 13th at 1.05″ & 0.04″ respectively. Surplus for the year of 3.95″ continues to dwindle.
Much-needed rainfall is forecast over the next 7 days. The heaviest stays away from SWGA, but 1/2″-1″ is possible from 2 events. First this weekend and the second middle of next week. Not a drought-buster or a soaking, at least for our area.
Patchy fog still possible but maybe not as widespread due to increased cloud cover tomorrow morning. Cloudy skies Friday. Dreary and damp conditions with light rain showers and breezy on Veterans Day. Chilly with better rain chances on Sunday. Rain ends Sunday night. Drier and cooler early next week. A secondary storm system brings a return to increased rain chances Tuesday through Thursday. Lows in lower to mid 40’s. Highs in the mid to upper 60’s to near 70.
