Victim identified in Bainbridge homicide

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. – Following up on a story we initially reported last night, the GBI has released an update on the victim and cause of death in a death investigation out of Bainbridge.

The victim, who was discovered with gunshot wounds in an open lot within the 800 block of Monroe Street, has been identified as 19-year-old Camren Walker, a resident of Bainbridge. Authorities are now treating this investigation as a homicide.

At 7:49 a.m. Tuesday, Bainbridge Public Safety director Frank Green requested GBI assistance after the discovery of a deceased male in an empty lot on Monroe Street in Bainbridge.

GBI agents, joined by a crime scene specialist, promptly processed the scene with local officers and investigators. Evidence collected will undergo further analysis, and the decedent’s identity is withheld pending family notification.

An autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon is scheduled for this week to aid the ongoing investigation.
