Vienna Senior Center, Middle Flint Council on Aging holds senior vaccination event
VIENNA, Ga. – Senior citizens gathered together to spread awareness about the importance of vaccines for older adults.
Over the weekend, at the Vienna Senior Center in Vienna, Georgia, the Middle Flint Council on Aging extended an invitation to seniors, ages 60 and older to take part in their senior vaccination event.
The purpose of this vaccination event extended beyond entertainment, aiming to provide seniors with the essential health resources while ensuring an enjoyable experience.

“It is for the older Americans 60 and over. We are trying to reach out and make sure that they are very well protected through the vaccine, whether that be with the flu or with the COVID-19. When it comes to individuals that are 60 and over, they are more at risk of being able to get COVID or the flu. So, we just wanna make sure that the shot gives them what they need to get protected,” said Shawn Hollis, Middle Flint Council on Aging, representative.
The vaccination event held an array of enjoyable experiences for the senior guest, ranging from engaging activities, delectable treats, and available items for purchase.
“We have a large bingo blast going on right now, it’s been going on since 9 o’clock this morning, they are winning lots of prizes. We also have vaccines available. We’ve got two vaccines available, we got the flu vaccine and the COVID vaccine,” said Jenna Sheppard, Middle Flint Council on Aging, representative.
The Middle Flint Council on Aging is committed to sustaining their initiative aimed at providing seniors with access to vaccinations.
“We have six different senior centers throughout the southwest Georgia area, and so Vienna is one of our first stops. After this, every two weeks we will be going to a different senior center,” said Shawn Hollis, Middle Flint Council on Aging, representative.
