Albany Recreation & Parks hosts Commitment Day
ALBANY, Ga. – Albany’s Recreation and Parks Department is making physical health a little more accessible on the east side, as they’re holding a community day at the J.C. Odom Center in East Albany.
At the J.C. Odom Community Center in East Albany, members of the department held their Commitment Day, showcasing all the center has to offer for physical fitness.
And, it’s aimed at helping those who may not be financially able to join a gym otherwise.
“You know we have a lot of people who are high blood pressure. We have people who are having problem with their knees, or are having problems with ‘how can I eat healthy?’ so you come to J.C. Odom, you’re going to get all of that,” said Tee Taylor, Rec. Supervisor, Albany Recreation & Parks.
Taylor referred to Thursday’s event as a “Re-open house” to get people enrolled so that they can have an affordable place to work on their health…
And, while we were not able to video inside, they were teaching any senior citizens in east Albany the first steps in building a healthy life.
“We have a lot of seniors today that are signing up. We’re gonna go over different things, what they should start out on first. We want them to kind of move a little slow at first to get where they need to be to stay healthy,” said Taylor.
But, more than anything the people who make up Albany Recreation and Parks want to provide the cornerstone for healthy living.
“We want them to know that Albany Recreation and Parks is here to help, to try our best and help them lead a healthy lifestyle,” said Taylor.
With this latest re-open house, Albany Recreation and Parks is optimistic that they’ll be able to make physical health far more accessible to those who may not be able to afford it.
The Albany Recreation and Parks Department is furthering their push for a healthier life with their “From Earth to Table Harvest Delight” farm to table event at the J.C. Odom Community Center on Tuesday, October 10th.
