Two arrested after attempted fleeing following traffic stop in Crisp Co.
CORDELE, Ga. – A traffic stop in Crisp county resulted in two arrests.
Yesterday, a Crisp County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a gray Dodge Challenger on Highway 300, near the Highway 41 intersection.
The deputy discovered one of the suspects, 26-year-old Makel Thomas, had an outstanding warrant from Albany. Thomas fled on foot, while the other suspect, 25-year-old Micaela Johnson, drove away in the car.
Around 7:45 p.m., authorities located Johnson and the vehicle, taking her into custody without incident. Meanwhile, a search continued for Thomas in the area. Early the next day, at around 2:45 a.m., a citizen alerted authorities to a man on her neighbor’s porch asking for help. Law enforcement arrived at the scene, but the subject fled again on foot.
This morning, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a Crisp County Sheriff’s deputy successfully apprehended Makel Thomas near the Highway 300 and I-75 intersection.
Thomas and Johnson, both of Albany, were transported to the Crisp County Detention Center.
They face several charges, including possession of a schedule II controlled substance, obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers, marijuana possession, and prescription drug possession.
