Albany man arrested and charged with armed robbery at Sav Rite store

ALBANY, Ga. – On August 14, 2023, officers responded to 427 S. Westover Blvd in reference to an armed robbery. Nikita Gandhi told officers that a white male, wearing all black with a face mask, came into the store, brandished a gun, and demanded money. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Camera surveillance was obtained, and Investigators identified the suspect as Colby Lee Hurst (20).

Colby Lee Hurst (20) was charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime and transported to the Dougherty County Jail. Hurst will also be charged with Criminal Damage to Property-2nd Degree and Theft by Taking (felony) on an unrelated case. He has also been linked to an armed robbery that occurred in the county that the Dougherty County Police Department is handling.
