SWGA reacts to former President Trump’s second impeachment proceedings

(ALBANY, GA) – With lawmakers meeting this afternoon to begin the second impeachment of now former President, Donald Trump, South Georgians are speaking their mind on the situation.

Some are saying that the proceedings are not worth the time.

Hope Manley from Sylvester says, “I honestly think that it’s ridiculous. I don’t really follow a whole lot on it, but I think they just need to go ahead and move forward. Whether people like it or don’t like it, we already have a new president.”

“I don’t think he’s done anything wrong for them to impeach him, in fact….I don’t think he should face any kind of punishment or anything because i don’t think he did anything wrong,” says Sylvester’s Deborah Short.

While some are saying the proceedings should be called off, others believe that the 45th president should stand trial for his actions.

“I think it’s needful. A capitol police officer was killed as a result of it. There needs to be accountability because nobody is above the law,” says Danny Clay of Albany.

As impeachment proceedings begin to enter a multi-day affair, people on both sides are standing firm on whether the former president will be convicted or not.

Clay tells us, “Let the facts outline the issue, and then let everyone make those rulings if the facts support the conviction. In my opinion, the facts support a conviction.”

While Short says, “Just keep praying for Trump, and pray that the truth will come out.”

Prosecution for the impeachment trial will begin Wednesday
