Screen writer and director continues production work in Douglas

DOUGLAS, Ga. – Amid the writers strike in Hollywood one writer is still working in Douglas, Georgia as he just wrapped up production on a film he calls “Redwood.”
“We don’t do it to disrespect, be little or downplay the strike,” said Sidney Bryant, Sr. Writer/Director.
But, writer Sidney Bryant has continued to work for a different purpose…
“Even with the strike going on, we carry on because our resource is god, I tell people all the time that our currency is favor,” said Bryant.
But, who exactly is “We”?
“We initiated an organization called the Faith and Film Coalition of Churches, Colleges, Community, and Country, and what that allows us to do is to pull together eight churches to produce,” said Bryant.
Hollywood production has different guidelines than the “One Compelling Picture Company”…
“It is a blessing not to be under the pressure of Hollywood; we don’t have to abide by those rules and guidelines,” said Bryant.
“One Compelling Picture” also has been offering job experiences for college students looking to get into film.
“It provides them a hands on experience on the job in a professional environment. They got to experience having a call sheet, having a call time,” said Bryant.
And, with all that being said, Bryant still cares for the writers striking in Hollywood.
“Like I said I do feel for them, cause that’s their job, that’s their living, and as long as there’s no writing going on there’s no production going on,” said Bryant.
Sidney Bryant tells me the film “Redwood” is set to drop later next year.
