Albany Technical College and MCLB agree to paid internship program
(ALBANY, GA) – Students at Albany Technical College could be getting a chance to line their pockets thanks to a little help from the Marine Corps Logistics Base.
Albany Tech President, Dr Anthony Parker says that a partnership like this stemmed from visits to the base.
“I realized that there were not as many marines as there as i originally thought, but the civilian workforce plays such a huge role,” said Dr. Parker Thursday morning.
That’s why the the college and the mclb have formed a new agreement, and are offering paid internships for students.
Commander, Michael Fitzgerald says that the base will benefit as well
Colonel Fitzgerald says, “What we gain is an apprentice craftsman, who will become a master craftsman who will mean the difference of our success in combat…”
The agreement between the two institutions has been in the works for nearly a year, and was thought of by the previous base commander.
“This was a dream of Colonel Alphonse Trimble. He was a big believer of bringing in an experienced and trained workforce, and giving them the experience they need and at the same time, put some money in their pockets…,” says Colonel Fitzgerald.
