Hazy skies, smoke plume disperses...hopefully!
Not much improvement in the hazy smoky skies for today, but some thunderstorms rolled in for the evening to help dilute it a little. The Air Quality Index has remained in the sensitive to almost unhealthy category. On the flip side of things, the haze is keeping it from being outrageously hot. That changes the next 24 hours as the smoke plume finally disperses…hopefully! The heat peaks Thursday and Friday. Temperatures in the upper 90s. Heat index “feels-like” 107-109. Practice heat safety, stay hydrated, stay cool in the A/C if you can, and make sure to look before you lock by checking the backseat! Rain and thunderstorms are likely this weekend, as well as not as hot with cooler temperatures.
Don still a Tropical Storm and continues to spin over the northern Atlantic and will remain a “fish storm” out-to-sea, but is expected to weaken in a few days.
A tropical wave over the eastern Atlantic has a low chance of development as it moves west towards the Main Development Region, but into a hostile environment with dry air which will keep any further development slow the next few days.
