Cordele City Commission approves agenda items after previous meeting abruptly adjourned
Two week from now the city commission will meet again to discuss more agenda items.
CORDELE, Ga. – Cordele City Commission met again today to discuss agenda items five and seven that were skipped over earlier this week due to a disagreement.
“He cannot carry motion for city manager, he cannot carry motion I am chair,” said Chairman Joshua Deriso, Cordele City Commission at Tuesday’s meeting.
Tempers flared at Tuesday’s commission meeting so much that the meeting was adjourned.
“Meeting adjourned, let the record reflect meeting adjourned to 9:35 am,” he said.
Chairman Joshua Deriso didn’t address agenda items five and seven Tuesday, because he says the commissioners who sit next to him tried to give power to the city manager who is not an elected official.
“I know based on who sits in the seats besides me and you know otherwise a row down or a seat down. I know their mindset and mentality. They constantly have meetings before meetings,” he said.
Today the commission went ahead and approved on agenda item five and seven without Chairman Deriso present.
“That’s what the remedy was today is to get those things that should have been done in an ordinary course of events that were not and the commission members wanted to correct that,” said Tommy Coleman, Cordele City Attorney.
Two week from now the city commission will meet again to discuss more agenda items.
