NWS confirms two tornadoes touched down in Thomas Co. on Thursday
Both were given an EF-1 rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale
THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. – After conducting a Friday afternoon survey, the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Florida confirms two tornadoes touched down Thursday in Thomas county.
The first tornado touched down northwest of Thomasville near U.S. Highway 84 near the Greenwood Plantation for approximately two minutes and stayed on the ground for almost one and a half miles.
The winds were estimated to have been 100 miles per hour, which is consistent with an EF-1 rating.
The second tornado touched down for approximately 7 minutes and stayed on the ground for almost two and a half miles.
Estimated winds were 90 miles per hour with this tornado, which is also consistent with an EF-1 rating.
Both tornadoes produced minor tree damage along their paths, with the only structural damage being to a barn from falling trees.
