Cordele Shooting over the Weekend

CORDELE, GA – A male was shot multiple times Easter Sunday in Cordele.

The shooting happened in the 1100th block of South 7th Street in Cordele.

When police arrived they immediately began life saving measures until EMS could arrive.

The victim was transported to Macon for further treatment and underwent surgery.

As of this morning, he was listed as critical but stable condition with more surgery in his future.

Witnesses at the scene were able to give a detailed description of the vehicle and suspect.

Crisp County deputies, alerted by off duty safety personnel spotted the vehicle traveling south on highway 300 into Worth county.

Attempts were made to stop the vehicle but the suspect did not stop until he hit a light pole and was caught after a brief foot pursuit.

The suspect is identified as 27 year old Sylvester Smith of Albany.

He is facing two counts of aggravated assault with more charges pending.

The investigation is continuing.
