Albany Fatal Vehicle Collision

ALBANY, GA – On Friday, March 24, Traffic Unit officers responded to a fatal motor collision around 3:45 a.m. at the intersection of South Slappey Boulevard and West Oglethorpe Boulevard.

The single-vehicle accident involved a 2016 Dodge Challenger heading west on West Oglethorpe Boulevard then crashing into the traffic signal on the west side of South Slappey Boulevard.

There were four occupants involved in the accident; one of the occupants succumbed to their injuries and the other occupants escaped as a fire engulfed the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Clinton Thomas, has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane.

It was estimated that Thomas was going at a speed of 140 miles per hour before the collision.
