Paw’s and Play Dog Adoption Event

Paw's and Play Dog adoption event

VALDOSTA, GA – Dogs are commonly referred to as “man’s best friend,” and yet not all dogs are treated the way that they should, considering the title.

But, luckily, places like Paw’s and Play have taken it upon themselves to change that, one dog at a time.

Outside of the local Crunch Fitness this Friday, the local shelter brought out some dogs to enjoy the sun and meet some new friends. But don’t worry, this isn’t an infrequent event.

“We like to do them weekly. We go to all the neighboring towns that are gracious enough to have us and adopt our dogs. At least weekly, and sometimes twice a week,” said Cyndi Johnson, Paw’s and Play Volunteer.

A quick look at their Facebook page shows that adoptions are relatively frequent.

“We look at 10 as a good number for us, and usually about half of them go home that day, which we’re so happy for. We have a good foster program, and a lot of them go home just for foster,” said Johnson.

One of the resident dogs even got adopted right in front of me, as both the dog and its new owner were overjoyed about the match. And it’s that bond, and what comes with it, that is the driving force behind this shelter’s motivation for holding these adoption events.

“The dogs, the dogs did. There’s a lot in the South that you don’t realize…we didn’t ask dogs to be domesticated. They deserve a wonderful life, and so we let them run free at our shelter. We do a lot of more progressive things, we feed them a little differently, and um, we took them on, and so it’s our responsibility to take care of them,” said Johnson.

So, if you’re looking for a nice shot of joy in your life, go ahead and check out Paw’s and Play, give them a call, check out their website, and give these precious dogs the life that they so deserve.
