ALBANY, Ga. – Hallways and classrooms may remain empty at Dougherty County Schools for sometime due to the pandemic. But the Dougherty County School System has decided to open their school-based health clinics in Turner Elementary, Alice Coachman Elementary School-Based Health Center, and Live Oak Elementary to serve their students throughout the school year.

“I feel very blessed to be able to work, I’m so thankful to Dougherty County School Systems for allowing us to continue to serve the students here,” says Physician Assistant Certified Sara Trivette.

The small center is a full functioning doctor’s office and due to the pandemic, they’ve been away from students since school abruptly ended in March.

“I miss seeing the kids in school. It’s been a wonderful opportunity though to get to know their parents a little bit better, I talk to their parents on the phone all the time, but it’s been great to be able to see them in person.”

With the health center open again during a pandemic, new services have been added.

“If you need COVID-19 testing that’s possible we can do antibody testing, we can basically take care of anything.”

Cleaning Arm Thing

The health center is taking extra precautions in cleaning and social distancing so that students who do visit their facilities can feel safe.

“Certainly, the way that we delivery health care, we’ve always focused on universal precautions but it’s taking it to a whole new level with making sure everyone’s social distanced and wiping every single surface down every single time and just working hard to make people comfortable to utilize healthcare and to come into the school.”
