65-year-old missing woman found dead in Americus
AMERICUS, Ga. – According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) on Tuesday, August 26 at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to the area of West Lamar Street and West Forsyth Street.
Once on scene, SCSO confirmed that the car found matched the description of the missing woman, 65-year-old Caroline Durrance, who was last seen at her residence at 100 block of Cartwright Rd. in Americus, around 6 a.m. on Sunday, August 24th.
After a search of the general area a female matching the description of Durrance was found under the bridge. The victim was identified as the missing person and the scene was turned over to the Americus Police Department (APD).

Durrance’s cause of death is undetermined at this time.
