50–50–1 movement protesters rally outside Government Center in downtown Albany against President Trump administration’s policies
ALBANY, Ga. – Concerned residents of Albany gathered outside of the Government Center in Downtown Albany to take part in the 50-50-1 Movement.
The nationwide initiative, which represents 50 protests across 50 states in a single day, provides a platform for citizens to peacefully demonstrate and voice their concerns about the current U.S. Administration and the federal system.
“We are here because we do not believe in the administration’s grab for power. We do not believe in most anything the administration has done today. We’re starting out with an administration that gave a complete pardon to every January 6th protester, even those who injured hundreds of police officers. We’re opposed to the mass layoffs of the federal employees. We’re opposed to the tariffs. We are opposed to alienating every country in the world, most certainly our allies. We’re closer to China and Russia than we are to any country in Europe in terms of our position on matters. And, we want a government that is responsive to people, that cares about people, all people,” said Tim Wesselman.
The group of concerned citizens encouraged like-minded individuals to participate in their future initiatives.
“We’re asking people not to purchase anything, if at all possible, on February 28th. Nothing online, and nothing at the stores. We know that you may not be able to be absolute on that, but anything you can do to support letting business know that, that folks are concerned. We’re asking you not to shop on February 28th,” said Wesselman.
We are unable to receive a response from those who may oppose this movement at this time. As always, we strive to present all sides of the story and will provide updates if more information becomes available.
