4C Academy Commodores Robotics Team 6919 prepares for next competition

ALBANY, Ga. – 4C Academy is pushing high school students beyond expectations, giving them opportunities to achieve what many might think is impossible.

One of those opportunities? The Robotics team.

And… they’re no strangers to success. Team 6919 has earned multiple world-level awards.

“It feels good to be from this area and be able to do something like that. When I was in middle school, I reckon, when I was in middle school, I didn’t really think of Albany as a place where I can, do a lot of things, if that makes any sense. I didn’t really, I wasn’t necessarily analyzing the job market at 13, but, you see a lot of things, perceptions and conceptions that you don’t get a lot of opportunity in Albany. So, I’m glad that that stereotype was able to be a bit beaten with this team,” said Brianna McCoy, Co-Captain, Team 6919.

Their latest victory? A first-place finish at last week’s robotics competition in Dawson.

And… they don’t plan on stopping there!

As Friday and Saturday they will compete right here at the Civic Center…

Facing 38 different teams around the state of Georgia.

With a chance to compete at worlds if they win the finals.

Winning is nothing new for this team. Just last year, they traveled to Houston for Worlds and came home with more banners.

But… beyond the trophies, what stands out most is their passion and drive for robotics.

“What the 4C Academy is that we’re a College and Career Academy, and we’re all about. Our mission is to prepare our young talent for what’s next for them. At the Civic Center, if you’re looking for something to do, that’s a lot of fun. Come on out because you’re going to see a lot of energy. Teams from all over Georgia that have been working on their robots come here and compete in a fun way, while they’re learning about stem. And, it’s just really an exciting time to see what these kids have designed and built. And, the amazing thing to me is I have to sit back and say, God, these are high school students doing some of this stuff because it’s very advanced, as you’ll see, if you come out,” said Chris Hatcher, 4C CEO.

4C Robotics recently won the Engineering Inspiration Award at the FIRST Robotics Competition recognizing the team and promoting STEM education.
