36th annual Georgia Quail Hunt in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. – Georgia state leadership is once again in Dougherty County to sell doing business in the Peach State to entrepreneurs.

One of Southwest Georgia’s long standing traditions returns as the State of Georgia hosts the annual Quail Hunt in Albany.

The 36th annual Quail Hunt brought plenty of entrepreneurs from across the world to Southwest Georgia.

And, Governor Brian Kemp says that Southwest Georgia shows the untapped potential of the state.

“They’re getting to experience, our values, our way of life, really our recreation, understand who we are as a people. And, that helps us better communicate with them. Shows that, you know, it’s not just about businesses, it’s about relationships, it’s about families, about how we’re going to treat people. It’s about our southern hospitality. And, that’s what people like,” said Gov. Brian Kemp, Georgia.

The State of Georgia has been ranked the number one state to do business in for ten years…

And, the Quail Hunt alone generates over a hundred million dollars for our area as state leaders talk business.

“And, this allows us to show not only do we have that business-friendly environment, but we also have the quality of life that a lot of businesses and industries are looking for. And, this is really just a great opportunity for us to work with our state partners to be able to showcase our region,” said Jana Dyke, President, Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission.

“This is about soft-sale. This is introducing businesses to the quality of life of Southwest Georgia, letting them meet men and women that live, work, play and pray here. Just to understand the community, I think that’s the best way to sell it. When you can feel comfortable, whether you’re hunting down here or you’re at dinner down on the river or you’re having, you know, dinner at one of the restaurants, you get to meet the folks. And that’s the best sales tool that we can have,” said Chris Clark, President, Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

And, after a year where Georgia’s agricultural scene was decimated by Hurricane Helene, state leadership is showing that all sectors are important to those at the Quail Hunt.

“…We’re continuing to work and fight for them and doing things right now during the legislative session to make sure that we’re going to stand by our farmers and our timber producers and make sure that we make them, you know, be viable in the future and help them recover from Hurricane Helene, that is one of our top priorities this legislative session,” said Gov. Brian Kemp, Georgia.

Officials with the State Department of Economic Development say that the Quail Hunt generates 145 million dollars for Southwest Georgia’s economy.
