35 students released from TRMC following evaluation after Tift Co. school bus pepper spray incident
TIFTON, Ga. – A concerning incident on a Tift county school bus left school officials taking swift action early this morning.
According to a Facebook post from Tift County High School, a chemical which has now confirmed to be pepper spray, was sprayed on the bus during its middle and high school route.
Students were transported to Tift Regional Medical Center for evaluation, following advice from EMS.
The medical center’s emergency department reported that 35 students were evaluated and released.
No students from the elementary school route were involved.
At this time, Tifton Police and Tift County Schools System security staff are still investigating the cause of the incident.
