3-year-old shot by unattended firearm, father arrested
ALBANY, Ga. – In a Monday morning ‘Media Monday’ press conference, Albany Police Department Chief Michael Persley reported that a 3-year-old is now recovering after being shot in the leg by an unattended firearm on Sunday, July 20.
The shooting incident happened at Sawyer Point Apartments, 2337 Sharon Drive, in Albany.
The child’s father, 30-year-old, DeQuan Sims, was arrested and charged with Reckless Conduct.
Sims took his child to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment. Sims was then arrested and transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
