2 defendants convicted in 2020 fatal shooting case

ALBANY, Ga. – On November 5th, Quintavious Kenta Hawkins and Xavier Dwayne McLain received convictions on charges related to the fatal shooting of Brykia Faith Washington on July 28th, 2020.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of Treeside Park Apartments in the 2300 block of West Gordon Avenue in Albany. Ta’tavious Hawkins, who sustained injuries in the incident, survived the ordeal.

Quintavious Hawkins and Xavier McLain face charges of malice murder, felony murder, and two counts of aggravated assault. The Albany Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office presented a compelling case, resulting in a unanimous “Guilty” verdict within 45 minutes.

Both Hawkins and McLain now await their sentencing, with the date yet to be determined.
