2 arrested after shots fired near Monroe Comprehensive High School

ALBANY, Ga. – Albany Police Department have arrested two people after shots were fired at a student near Monroe Comprehensive High School Monday afternoon.

At 3:52 p.m., officers responded to Lippitt Drive and South Harding Street where a 16-year-old student was walking home from school. Two suspects then fired shots at the teen.

18-year-old Jacques Hicks and 20-year-old Cornelius Ward Jr. were arrested and taken in for questioning.

Jacques Hicks was arrested and taken to the Dougherty County Jail on the charge of Aggravated Assault.

Cornelius Ward Jr. was released from custody by investigators. Ward is no longer apart of this incident.

APD said no injuries were reported. School officials say a gunman was never on campus and the incident lead to a delayed dismissal.
