19-year-old arrested after fleeing deputies, crashing motorcycle, killing passenger

LEESBURG, Ga. – At around 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day, a Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy officer arrested 19-year-old Michael Evans after spotting Evans speeding on a motorcycle in the 1700 block of Philema Road.

Both the driver, Evans, and the female passenger, Makenzie Jackson, were thrown from the motorcycle after crashing into a trash can.

Evans suffered multiple injuries, while Jackson died at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Evans is currently at the Lee County Jail, and is facing charges of fleeing from a police officer and reckless driving.
