Worth County High wraps up annual youth soccer camp

SYLVESTER, GA – Worth County soccer hosted its final day of its youth soccer camp early Wednesday morning where the main focus was developing fundamental skills for these kids.

“We worked on touches, dribbling, passing, shooting, and then we did some actual games,” Lady Rams head soccer coach Ashlee Odom said.

Her primary focus for the campers was to go back to the basics and I’m not talking about soccer
fundamentals.

“I want them to get out here and develop a love for soccer and sports in general,” Odom said. “Instead of
being in the house, [they’ll get] out here and be active. Hopefully it’ll stick with them and they want to do that.”

The campers are the top priority. The coaches – or varsity players – also benefit from the camps.

“I had a couple say to me today ‘now I know how you guys feel when you coach,'” Odom said. “It’s really hard coaching these kids and seeing what we see and I had a couple of them say they really
love doing it. They like working with these younger kids and they have no idea what that means to
those young kids out here playing with them. Those kids look up to them.”
